Event Idea: Women's Victorian Christmas Tea
Christmas Tea

An elegant event with a unique fashion show!

Purpose: Evangelism-Outreach

Description: We just completed our 3rd year (2005) presenting this event. The primary focus and the best part is that "unchurched" women who wouldn't attend a church service came to the tea.

43 tables were hosted by a different woman who brought her own china, centerpiece, etc and decorated the table. Each table was so elaborate and unique! This year we also had a Victorian Fashion Show with 21 different outfits including costumes from "Gone With the Wind" and "Titanic" movies. They were modeled by women from out church, which was a lot of fun. Many of the hostesses also dressed in Victorian dress.

We fill the program with Victorian carolers, a Victorian storyteller, and then the Gospel presentation. We conclude with an invitation to our church's Christmas Eve Service.

Refreshments: The food consisted of tea sandwiches (catered this year) and scones and seasonal desserts made by our women. Drinks can include coffee, tea, cocoa, and spiced cider.

Event Idea: Toys of Joy Under the Tree
tree with toy ornament

This is a great idea that was published in Issue #240 on November 18, 2004.

This year for our Ladies Christmas party each lady will be asked to bring a toy from a provided list and registry to replenish our church's preschool department. This party will be held right after Sunday night church service. The center pieces for each table will be Christmas Trees with small toys under them (these trees will also act as door prizes). We will have a toy chest and/or a Large Christmas tree for the ladies to put their toys.

A lady from our church will share how a tree is a picture of our walk with Christ and she will read "The Legend of the Three Trees." For the favors, we plan each lady a wooden cut-out Christmas tree ornament.

WomensMinistry.Net Asks You!
Who is on your leadership team?

Last week we were asked a great question that is really best answered by you all. Here it is:

I would really like to know what positions other Directors have on their “core team” and what each position is responsible for. Do they have a different team for each event, if so, what is the core team for?

Please send your responses to robyne@womensministry.net. We will post answers in the next issue!

Leadership Tip: Walk and Talk
women walking by lake

Objective: To minister to my leadership team one on one

It had been on my heart to have more personal time with the women in leadership. Since we all had busy schedules one more meeting did not sound appealing. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, I remembered one of the women had asked us to go walking sometime, we began walking for one hour one day a week and from that I now walk with three different women three mornings a week.

Our relationship has grown since I am mentoring each lady and of course the benefits physically is an answer to prayer. This works out beautifully for all of us; it really is not something else on us since we enjoy the time together. It is only one hour a week together! I also meet them at their homes and we walk in their neighborhood.
