Surveys and Starbucks |
 |
|
We recently asked you to answer a
Women's Ministry survey and many of you
responded. We are so happy about your
involvement that we cannot wait any longer
to announce the winners of four $25
Starbucks gift certificates.
Drum roll please... and the winners
are:
diane.ingolia@fot...
nursehazel@ya...
withrobl@mu...
dee.lower@bbc....
Congratulations to our winners, and
loads of thanks to everyone who
participated.
We're having a great time reading through
your feedback. We're learning so much as
we review the results and look forward to
sharing some of them with you. In fact,
here's a little sneak peak.
We've been quick to notice that you are a
hard working and passionate bunch of
women!
- More than two-thirds of you are
leading well grounded or growing
ministries.
- Almost three-fourths of you are
serving in small churches.
- Well over half have been in women's
ministry for a long time!
Thanks for your tenacity, your
commitment and your service.
Hearing from you ignites our passion to
serve you in leading women. We'll bring
you more results from our survey in future
newsletters. Keep up the great work and
keep visiting us at
womensministry.net!

WM.Net Review: Lifeway's Women's Ministry
Leadership Forum |
 |
|
Jennifer Rothschild hosted a "Java with
Jennifer... LIVE" during her "Up Close and
Personal" session at
Lifeway's Women's Ministry Leadership
Forum.
She shared a bit of her personal story,
told us about her recent encounter with
her hero,
Joni Eareckson Tada, and then went on
to challenge the women with some of the
things she's been learning: the value of
reading great literature, our need to get
and stay physically fit, how to set
boundaries, and that every woman needs a
stone... a pizza stone, that is!
The session closed with a Q & A time
during which Jennifer shared how she puts
on her own makeup, how she deals with the
daily struggles of blindness and how God
brought her to her current place of
ministry.
It was a great time for Jennifer to
interact with the women who lead her
Bible studies and follow her ministry
by reminding us again that the greatness
of God shows up right in the middle of our
human weakness.
To top it all off, Jennifer was able to
give each of the 800+ conference attendees
a copy of her latest book release,
Self Talk, Soul Talk, along with
an offer to receive $5 off by visiting
www.selftalksoultalk.com. What else can we
say, but we hope to see you at the
Leadership Forum in 2008! (Click
this link and we'll send you a
reminder to attend in 2008.)
If you have never attended this event,
below is a review from Leah Adams sharing
her thoughts on the 2007 Lifeway Women's
Ministry National Forum. We have edited
some of her thoughts down to fit in this
column. You can read her entire blog at
www.thepoint-leah.blogspot.com.
Oh my! That is just about all I can
say--oh my!! What a marvelous week!! My
friend, Cindy and I just returned from
Lifeway's Women's Ministry National
Leadership Forum in Nashville, Tennessee.
We spent three days with 850 of our
closest friend worshipping, learning and
sharing about Women's Ministry. We saw and
experienced so much that I'm not sure I
can whittle it down, but I'll try.
The Praise and Worship time was so
anointed and amazing. It was led by
Travis Cottrell who is the worship
leader for Beth Moore's Living Proof Live
events. He took us to the throne of grace
over and over during the three day event,
but undoubtedly the most spirit filled
moment was when he led us in singing "In
Christ Alone". I absolutely love that
song.
At one session we were blessed with
a dramatic presentation of a passage from
the New Testament by
Emory Colvin. She held the crowd
spellbound as she presented the Word.
We were able to attend a "small
group" session entitled "Up Close and
Personal with Lifeway Women's Authors". I
would love to have attended all of them,
but unfortunately I could not.
The final session that I attended
was with Pastor David Landrith who pastors
a church in Nashville. He spoke to us
about the "Eight Most Common Mistakes
of Women's Ministry Leaders." He was
funny, yet very effective. I have ordered
the DVD from that session because his
thoughts were some that I want to keep
foremost in my mind as I lead our Women's
Ministry. Let me give you his Eight
Mistakes in synopsis:
- Letting Your Public Ministry
Substitute for Private Devotion Time
- Having No Accountability
- Taking an Adversarial Stance with
the Pastor and Staff of the Church
- Choosing to Die on Every Hill
- Focusing on Programs instead of
People
- Lack of Vision
- Lack of Flexibility
- Giving Up Too Soon
Well, I'll hush. This doesn't even
begin to describe the high that we were on
this week. We met with Jesus each and
every day and learned so much great stuff
that will help us with our Women's
Ministry. I would highly recommend this
Forum to anyone in Women's Ministry!!
Thanks for sharing Leah! Your
friends at WomensMinistry.NET

WM.Net...Our Favorite Things: Thou Shalt
Laugh DVD |
 |
|
With Christmas fast approaching, we
thought it would be fun to share some of
our "favorite things" with you!
Thou Shalt Laugh (2006) is a live
stage show featuring seven comedians and
hosted by Everybody Loves Raymond star
Patricia Heaton.
Imagine ten adults, eight kids, three
dogs, two cats and a guinea pig having a
wonderful, quality, spirit- filled
Christmas. Now, imagine the same family
trapped in the house due to a snowstorm
for 72 long hours. Imagine kids running
and screaming, dogs barking, men watching
way too much football, 500 games of
Monopoly and an unending pile of dirty
dishes... Welcome to my world last
Christmas!
On the middle of the second day, we locked
the littlest kids in the game room (just
joking, it was nap time!) and dropped this
video in. For two hours we laughed, and
laughed and laughed. With seven different
comedians, there was something that
appealed to each of us watching, and we
had a great time. Almost better than
Calgon!
So, just in case you have a house full of
people and a snowstorm in your future...
it wouldn't hurt to have this video
setting on top of your DVD player!
