Ministry Tip:
Newsletters
102 - Content
for
Newsletters |
 |
|
As I visit
churches, one
of my favorite
things to do
is read
through their
women's
ministry
information. I
especially
love
newsletters,
because they
can be a great
tool in
creating
community.
This week
as we look at
content for
newsletters, I
have two lists
for you.
First, is a
list of things
that I would
consider "core
content" and
the second is
a list of
optional
columns and
ideas.
Good core
content for a
newsletter:
-
Leadership
contact
information.
Sounds
simple, but
this one is
often
missing.
List the
names,
positions,
phone and
email for
the women on
your
leadership
team.
- Purpose
and vision
statements
of your
women's
ministry.
- List of
current
Bible
studies.
Don't forget
to include
the name and
contact
information
of the
leader as
well as the
start and
end dates
for the
study. This
allows women
to see how
far along
the study is
that
interests
them as well
as to jump
in at a
specific
week if they
need to.
- Upcoming
Bible
studies.
Have a list
of studies
that will be
offered in
your next
semester.
- Coming
events.
Share a list
of events
for the
coming year
with special
emphasis on
the closest
ones. This
is also a
great place
to have
advertising
and a
countdown to
your next
big women's
event such
as a
retreat.
-
Volunteer
opportunities.
Let women
know how,
when and
where they
can help
serve in the
ministry.
(We are more
committed to
ministry
when we have
an active
part in it.)
- WM
Updates.
Give your
women's
ministry
leaders an
opportunity
to share
encouraging
words,
ministry
updates, and
requests for
assistance.
- One
inspirational
article.
Other ideas
for content:
- Read
through the
Bible plan.
- Music
reviews.
- Book
reviews.
- Recipes.
- Current
events.
- Kids
corner.
- Tips.
Cleaning,
decorating,
financial,
travel, etc.
- Missions
moment.
-
Spotlight on
a ministry
leader or
guest.
-
Birthdays.
- Joke or
cartoon.
- Prayer
requests.
- Pictures
and recap of
recent
events.
-
Community
events,
resources,
support
groups, etc.
Always pray
about the
content of
your
newsletter and
address the
needs, desires
and interests
of the women
in your church
body.
In Him...

Icebreaker:
Hoola Hoop Hoe
Down |
 |
|
Objectives:
To bring all
women to
laughter as
they each try
to hoola hoop
the longest.
Materials:
Two Hoola
Hoops, stop
watch
Procedure:
Start off with
two volunteers
and let them
each try to
hoola at the
same time.
Continue until
all have
tried, keeping

longest times.
We just did
this at a
retreat last
weekend and it
was hilarious!
We then had a
show-down and
the top winner
was awarded a
small prize.

saying:
" ...got a

From one tool
