Top Ten Tips for Writing Top Ten Lists
Follow the guidelines below to develop a Top Ten List. Share what you've learned with other women across the globe who have an interest in women's ministries.
1. Generate your Top Ten List by brainstorming first.
Take a moment and scratch down in bullet form lessons youve learned, tips youve always wanted to share, etc. Dont think about the clarifying point until after youve jotted your bullet points. Now expand on each bullet point, collapse some bullet points into others, organize them 1 being most important and 10 being least important, then clarify each point with as few words a possible. Brevity is the soul of wit.
2. Don't use ALL CAPS when writing your Top Ten List.
Writing in ALL CAPS shouts at us. Use ALL CAPS only occasionally to highlight a word or two.
3. Make a Top Ten List with 5 or more points.
If you cant think of ten points, consider listing your top five, six, or more. Number them one through ten - one typically is the most important, ten is the least important. When points are equally important, number them any way.
4. Provide a sub-point the clarifies your main point.
Use illustrations or description to clarify your main point. No more than two or three sentences. Again dont shout with all caps when clarifying your point.
5. Avoid quotation marks, bolding and other unique formatting.
When submitting by email, or on the web, the bolding, underlines, script, and other characters often get stripped away, or show up as ugly code. Make it simple. All caps on occasion, and popular font styles like Times Roman or Arial.
6. Provide enough information.
For example, if you are going to recommend your top five, or ten, bible studies for women, provide a brief description of each, and or, author and publisher. This helps others track down the resource.
7. Proof read your Top Ten List for spelling and grammar.
Credibility is enhanced when quality is evident.
8. Submit your Top Ten by email or at our website.
Your top ten list has a better chance of getting published if you submit it on our web site at http://www.womensministry.net/topten . Otherwise, submit it by simply sending your top ten list by email to ideas@womensministry.net. Sending it be email may be appropriate when you have already typed it in a word processor and you simply want to cut and paste.
9. Provide contact information.
Some like anonymity, some want exposure. We recommend you enhance your exposure by providing contact information like this: Submitted by Jane Robolo, Atlanta, GA, jrobo@aol.com
10. Remember your audience.
Remember to relate your top ten list to womens ministry leaders, teams, speakers, musicians, and other gifted communicators. This is our primary audience.

Top Ten Reasons Women's Ministries Fail
Since it is SO cold and blustery here in the wonderful state of Wisconsin I decided to use my time wisely by participating in your Top Ten list. Hope that I can be of some assistance!
Women do not seek the will of God.
We must always seek the will of God first!
Lack of prayer.
Prayer is so vital in seeing that our Women's Ministry does not fail.
Women's groups have no vision.
We seem to have the "We like our group the size it is" syndrome.
One person doing all the dreaming.
A huge red arrow in knowing our ministry is going to flop is seeing one lady doing all the dreaming. There must be more than one person with the vision.
No prep work.
When planning our 2000 calendars let us not rush into planning lame events but to consider all roads and valleys.
Not mission minded.
Ladies need to know the importance of being other oriented.
Lack of concern.
Your ministry will end up flopping if the majority does not see a need for new growth of non-Christian women.
Lack of leaders.
Your group will need plenty of leaders to keep enthusiasm!
Lack of followers.
Your group will also need plenty of followers to keep the group rolling.
Lack of spiritual maturity.
You need to seek God at every meeting growing together!

Top 10 ways to relax after a long, hard day.
Everyone experiences stress in their lives. God has given us many positive ways to relax and I have listed my ten favorites.
Pray - Spend time with God
Talking to God is the best way to de-stress because He is the author of our lives and knows exactly where we are and what our needs are at every moment.
Read
Read anything positive - the Bible, a devotional book, an inspirational romance, or a Christian magazine like Guideposts. Find a place that is quiet, with no interruptions and lose yourself in your reading.
Write
Journal writing is an excellent source of relaxation. It is a great way to clear your mind and focus your attitude on God. Writing letters or poetry is also a good way to relax.
Listen to Music
Listen to something calm and soothing. My favorite singer to relax to is Twila Paris. Classical music is also good, and sometimes listening to praise and worship music is good because it helps put our focus on God.
Take a bath
Make sure you have plenty of time for your bath to ensure there will be no interruptions. Use bath beads or bubbles in your favorite fragrance, light candles and put on soothing music.
Go outside
Go to the park, take a walk, smell your flowers, listen to the birds, watch the sunset, catch fireflies, sit on the porch swing and enjoy the breeze. I really enjoy walking in the grass barefoot.
Call a friend
Be sure to call someone you can chat with for a while without unloading all of your problems and who won't do that to you.
Go shopping
Go to your local Christian bookstore and just spend time browsing through the merchandise. This is a good way to get away from things.
Do a craft
Any craft that you enjoy is relaxing. I enjoy cross stitch, but some people like sewing, quilting, decoupage, crocheting, knitting, etc. . .
Bake
Bake only if this is relaxing to you. I enjoy it and the process of making something is soothing. Great ways to really work out frustrations are kneading bread dough and crushing graham crackers for a crust.

10 Reasons Women's Ministries Will Succeed
1. Prayer
Pray like there will be no tomorrow. Pray as if situations involve your loved ones. Pray like your mom, dad, sister, husband, or child is in the devil's clutches and it's the only way to get them out. Pray even when your prayers don't seem to make it off your lips. Like the days of old--hold on to the horns of the altar until you hear from God.
2. Worship
Is Jesus the love of your life? O come let us adore Him. He is worthy of our praise and longs for our worship. Worship--to commune with the Lord. Long for His presence, desire intimacy with the Savior of your soul.
3. Praise
Make His praise glorious! Lift high the Name of the Lord! Sing his praises until you wakeup with praise on your tongue. Do not give place to the devil, but extol the Lord! Enter in and go out with praise ringing in your heart. Praise Him because of Who He is. Who is He to you? Savior, confidant, true friend, strong tower, healer? O, the many names of Jesus.
Read
The Word of the Lord, written my holy men as the Spirit moved upon them. My Lord used them to write a personal letter to me. To tell me how He loves me and what He has provided for me. He gives me advice on how to make my life productive and happy (as you know, He's be here too). He tells me how I can please Him and about the place He has prepared just for me. Not only these wonderful things but He'll come again! The Bible says what it means and means what it says!
Share
The Great Commission of Jesus to the Church--Go Ye into all the World. Tell those you meet about your hope. Not a wish or a dream, but hope. Jesus died for all. Not the righteous--but sinners. Our mandate is to tell them. Tell them on the highways, tell them in the marketplace, tell them in our homes. Tell them about Jesus.
Comraderie
Live together in Christ. Lift up on another. Lean on one another. Share one anothers ups and downs. Show forth the attributes of Christ in your friends.
Tithe
Don't forget to tithe to your church. It is the Lord's. You can either give it and be blessed. Or he'll take it. The first fruits belong to Him. O give Him your tithe and offerings and reap the benefits of a God who already knows what tomorrow holds. Don't trust in treasures laid up for a rainy day, trust Jesus.
Time Management
The buzz word of the corporate world today. Is it too secular? No! Jesus managed His time well. We must set aside a time for worship--communion with the Lord. A time for study in the Word. A time for family and loved ones. A time of gathering together and sharing. Time for ministry.
Preparation
What is Jesus comes tomorrow? How would I live today? Would it be business as usual, or would some things change?
Watchful
Look for Him! He could come today. What joy to know that Jesus is coming again and has laid up a crown of righteousness for those who love His appearing!

Top Ten Ways to Find More Time in Your Day
Too many times we excuse ourselves from growing, stretching and improving our minds, bodies, and relationships by being unable to "find" time in which to read, work out, or invest in our friends and family. Let's stop looking for time and start finding it -- and if all else fails, making it.
CHEW GUM WHILE YOU WALK.
Which is to say, do something while you walk. It's a half an hour walk to work for me, and I've finished books on the way, listened to sermons and the Bible on tape, even prayed by blocks! And during the day I read and mark up documents on my way to lunch, on the elevator upstairs, and while walking to the Coke machine. Just don't bump into anything.
LOVE THE INTERNET.
The world is changing and the changes offer up great opportunities. I write checks online (citibank.com), buy books, movie tickets and airplane tickets online (amazon.com, moviefone.com, and aa.com), read the newspaper (chicagotribune.com, and it's free!), look up obscure words on the online dictionary (m-w.com), check out the directions to my cousin's wedding in the suburbs (mapblast.com). . . there is no limit.
WORK YOUR BRAIN WITH YOUR BODY.
Most gyms have dog-earred magazines available for your enjoyment while on the aerobic machine of your choice. Walk right by . . . and bring one of those books you've been saying you'll read sometime before 2000. You've still got time -- and the more engrossed you are in your book, the less you'll feel your thighs screaming.
CLEAN WHILE YOU CATCH UP.
Why just sit there while on the phone? Everyone has to clean and we never have time to catch up with friends. Thank technology for cordless phones, because now we can doing the dirty deed while getting the scoop on friends and family.
PRAY THE LORD YOUR SOUL (AND MIND) TO KEEP.
Make the last thing you do each night be talking to the Lord. Tell him what would otherwise keep you tossing and turning all night. Or ask him to make sure you get your fanny out of bed at 6:45 a.m. to run, catch the plane, finish the assignment . . . whatever and whenever you need to be up and moving. And ask him to be with you in the watches of the night -- there's no better company.
MIMIC MR. GADGET.
Some gadgets are more trouble than they're worth, but many many gadgets are wonderful time- (and life-) savers. From PalmPilots to cell phones to pagers to laptop computers to the latest and greatest techno gadget . . . take advantage of technology.
MAKE DOWN TIME AN INVESTMENT.
Which means don't make every "restful" night an exhausting night on the town, or even a quiet night at home with Ben, Jerry and Mel. Consider what area of your life needs restoration -- sometimes the most restful things can be a hard workout and a long bath, or a good book and an early night, or dinner on the town with an old friend.
DELEGATE, DELEGATE, DELEGATE.
You needn't have your fingers in every pie. Some of the most wonderful words in the English language are "no" and "help." Practice saying them to yourself in the mirror until they feel natural.
POWER UP.
Eat well, vitamin-yourself healthy, drink more water than you think you need. You need it. And you'll have more energy to boot.
IGNORE THE PHONE.
That's why they invented voice mail. Constant interruptions make an hour project into three hours. Let it ring and you'll have two hours in which to call them back once you've finished the project.
