Are you interested in helping women in and around your community grow their faith? Have you been looking for new ways to expand your reach? Integrating art into your ministry may be the answer!
Many women in our communities have never attended church. Some are curious about God but feel too nervous to attend a Sunday service.
A great first step for these women would be to integrate faith art into your small groups.
Faith art is any type of art which is created for the sole purpose of growing or deepening a person’s faith. Faith art has no one medium. It can be as simple as a basic coloring sheet.
The picture or supplies used for faith art are not nearly as important as the process of creating it. If the goal of the art page or craft activity is to help a person move closer to the heart of God, it is faith art.
Here are 3 ways you can begin to integrate faith art into your small groups:
- Include Coloring Sheets
Women love to color! Just look at the growing popularity of adult coloring books to verify this. Coloring is both relaxing and engaging. Research shows that as individuals color, their minds are stimulated. This stimulation can help individuals grow and deepen their faith as they focus on Him. Including art sheets will enable the women to understand God’s Word and absorb His love in deep new ways. Christian coloring sheets are easy to find on Pinterest. Bringing trendy new coloring supplies to each session like water color pencils and gelatos is a fun way to create added excitement for your attendees. - Create Faith Journals
Encourage the ladies to save their completed coloring pages. Your last session will be a faith art celebration! During this fun celebration, members will create their very own faith journals. Faith journals are a wonderful way to document a person’s journey. These faith journals will be a great resource for your members to keep with them after your small group session ends. - Include Bible Journaling
Christian book stores everywhere are now selling “journaling” Bibles. These Bibles are specifically designed with wide margins on the side of each page for drawings or notes. Because people of all ages are embracing these journaling Bibles, adding Bible journaling small groups to your women’s ministry would be a great way to launch engaging cross-generational small groups.
As you integrate faith art into your ministry, I pray that it opens up doors for new women, new relationships and deepened faith walks.
