Scenario: You are working your women’s ministry plan. You are excited because things are going well, then BAM! Something goes wrong. Something falls apart. Something unexpected happens.
#WomensMinistryFail
What’s a women’s ministry leader to do now? I’ve got 3 R’s to help you recover:
Reassure yourself. If you are like me, you are careful to confirm what God has led you to do. One thing I know is this: If God is not leading me to it, I’ve got no business doing it. Truth is, nobody wants what Gina Duke’s got planned, but everyone wants what God’s got planned. Right?
It can be disheartening if you feel that that thing God has led you to do in women’s ministry does not do well. But don’t despair – your sole objective in ministry is to simply be obedient to what God requests of you. Recall that moment when you knew God laid out the plan and be reassured by your obedience.
Recognize that God’s economy works differently from our own. Our measure of results does not matter. What we consider a success, like numbers, does not make a hill of beans difference to God. His work is an internal and an eternal one that sometimes may only be seen with spiritual eyes. Every now and again we get to witness His glory. Just because we are part of the process, does not mean that we are always privy to the progress.
Reassess your steps. Nothing can replace an honest assessment and evaluation of everything you and your team did to launch well. Did you highlight it enough? Did the event start early enough? Should more help have been recruited? Whatever you discover in your reassessment, use it to recover. What are the things you can do to finish well? Then execute well.
Remember, if you are confident of your conviction to do something in ministry, you can infuse excitement and stir the hearts of women for God. Onward!
Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means. 2 Corinthians 8:11
