Objective
To create an environment where women are laughing, comfortable, humbled and prepared for a great time together. This one is especially fun to do with a well acquainted group of women.
Materials
Index cards with portions of a popular radio song written on them.
Instructions
Randomly hand out index cards to each person. Three or four lines from a popular song are listed on each card. When you say “go,” women have to burst out singing whatever is on their card (whether they knew the song or not)! They have to find others who are singing the same song.
As soon as everyone finds their partners, they have to stop singing (no time to practice together). Then it turns into a singing competition with each group performing their songs for an entire minute (far exceeding the four lines given on the index cards) and then a “best performance” award is given.
This icebreaker was absolutely wonderful! Each group had members who had never heard the song or didn’t know the words or who couldn’t sing all that well! We laughed hysterically as we fumbled through our songs together! We saw everyone sing really loud, off-key, without words, and on occasion…beautifully. No one had trouble giving their all during worship time!
